New Cayenne revealed

The new generation Porsche Cayenne was revealed yesterday, writes Brian Byrne.

With elements from its smaller Macan brother SUV, and a rear treatment with elements borrowed from the Panamera, its an overall evolutionary exercise for the model.

Theres a significant redesign in the drivers area, with a massive 12.3" screen hogging the centre dash.

New engines to the model will include a 340hp 3.0 V6 turbo and more power to the base engine.

Sandyford Motor Centre joins Peugeot dealer network

Sandyford Motor Centre have joined the Peugeot Dealer Network of Ireland, writes Trish Whelan.

Fronted by Dealer Principal, Bruce Soraghan, Sandyford Motor Centre is now retailing the full line-up of Peugeot passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, with a range of quality used cars for sale. The Aftersales Department is now alsofully equipped with the latest Peugeot diagnostic equipment, with the Parts Department stocking genuine Peugeot parts and accessories.

Sandyford Motor Centre is a well-established, family-run business founded over 17 years ago by Bruce and Robert Soraghan, and has built up a solid, loyal customer base.

Jaguar E PACE here in December

Jaguar’s new E-PACE will arrive in Jaguar Land Rover showrooms in early December, writes Trish Whelan.

This is the newest member of Jaguar’s SUV family following the F-PACE, Jaguar’s performance SUV and Winner of World Car of the Year 2017.

JLR has announced a limited edition introductory launch price of €36,000 for the 2.0D i4 150hp manual model. This represents a €2,000 saving.

Jaguar Land Rover’s MD Gerard O’Farrell says the E-PACE provides the best of both wor lds: the brand’s sports car dynamics with compact SUV practicality.

This is a five-seat compact SUV that packs the design and performance of a Jaguar sports car into a spacious, practical and connected AWD vehicle. It takes its design inspiration from the F-TYPE sports car. 

The E-PACE and E-PACE R-Dynamic come with a choice of three diesel and two petrol engines. The 2.0 four-cylinder Ingenium diesel powerplant is available in 150/180 and 240hp outputs, while the pair of 2.0 four-cylinder Ingenium petrol turbo units deliver 249hp or 300hp. 

The 300hp Ingenium petrol turbo engine takes 6.4 seconds for the 0-100km/h sprint. The front-wheel drive 150hp diesel delivers C02 emissions of 125g/km and has annual road tax of €270.

The E- PACE comes with the latest safety and driver assistant technologies, and is the first Jaguar to feature the company’s next-generation Thin-Film Transistor Head-Up display technology.

It comes with the wearable Activity Key waterproof and shockproof wristband that allows the driver to lock the main key inside the car when enjoying outdoor pursuits like running or cycling. When the Activity Key is activated by holding the wristband up to the upper edge of the number plate surround on the tailgate, any conventional key fobs left inside the car are disabled.

Car Features The Unmentiables Not Sold in Japan

The past few episodes we had focused on Toyota (including Lexus and Daihatsu), Nissan (plus Mitsubishi), and Honda. Now, our last of the series will now involve brands that arent part of larger automotive groups which includes Isuzu, Mazda, and Suzuki.

We did this series with Korean brands as a whole with vehicles not available in their home country. Before we start, current model line-up vehicles will be counted here and since Japan does not anymore dig pick-up trucks, they would not be listed here.

Isuzu MU-X

Based on the D-Max pickup, the MU-X is the only SUV offered by Isuzu and is only available so far in the following locales: Th ailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, China, and India. In some markets, it wears the Chevrolet badge but this one is outsold by the Japanese counterpart.

Isuzu Panther

With the Philippines (sold as the Crosswind) discontinuing this model by the end of this year, you can only buy this MPV in Indonesia. In India, it is sold as the Chevrolet Tavera and squint hard to find the similarities of the two models.

Mazda CX-4

Only sold in China, the CX-4 is based on the CX-5 but the height is shorter than the CX-3 but engine and transmission options are shared with the former car. It seems that the Chinese are getting their market exclusive cars not meant for the rest of the world.

Mazda CX-9

Assembled in Japan but not sold in Japan, the CX-9 is the brands largest model available and the largest SUV in the line-up. The previous generation model utilized a Ford platform and a V6 engine but currently rides on a Mazda based underchassis and a turbocharge d engine.

Suzuki APV

Produced in Indonesia, this MPV rivals the likes of the Toyota Avanza and can be had in either 1.5 or 1.6 gasoline engines. Ever since its production in 2005, it has yet to receive a full model change. In Indonesia, it has numerous variants with varying levels of equipment.

Suzuki Celerio

This Indian built and developed hatchback which slots above the basic and utilitarian Alto hatchback in terms of price and feature content. The shocker is a 800cc diesel engine that is only sold in India, which is definitely a beast.

Suzuki Ciaz

Replacing the SX4 sedan in Asia and Latin America, the Ciaz can be had in either gasoline or diesel engines depending on the market.

Suzuki Ertiga

Utilizing the Swift chassis, the Ertiga is developed by its Japanese and Indian subsidiaries, this one competes with the Toyota Avanza and Honda Mobilio. Engine options include a gasoline, diesel, CNG (India), and diesel/hybrid (Indonesia).

Suzuki Swift Dzire

First existed in the late 00s, the Dzire is essentially the sedan version of the Swift sold in India and certain export markets. It is below 4,000mm, which automatically receives a tax break for sedans within a certain length. The Indian market ha s both diesel and gasoline variants, while we get the latter.
